Summary | 0001611: Paused downloads will not resume
Description | Each time a download stops, e. g. due to bad net coverage, the download will not finish or resume correctly. I tried to download a 550 MB image file from here: http://en.miui.com/download-249.html. When I pause the download and then start it again, it will say it just finished, even though the downloaded MB are far less than the size of the file. I managed to download 180 MB until the connection broke down (I have to use mobile internet). When resuming, the download was shown as "finished". When I restarted downloading the file, it started with 0 MB again and did not recognize that 180 MB had already been downloaded. For mobile connections this is hell... I have tried this about 20 times and it never works.
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Start downloading a big file via mobile connection (Chrome Browser on Win 8.1) 2. Pause the download 3. Change connection to WLAN 4. Resume download 5. Bazinga! Chrono reports the file as finished even though it is not. There is no way to continue the download. -------------------- 1. Start downloading a big file via mobile connection 2. Pause the download 3. Put computer into sleep mode 4. Wake up computer 5. Resume download --> Resume is impossible (user aborted? no. just paused :-( )
Additional Information | If I do not change the internet connection, resuming a download sometimes works. This only is true, though, when not too much time has passed between pause and resume.

This problem did not only show up with this one link I have reported but also with other download locations. E. g. this one: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/153973/cm-13.0-20160317-NIGHTLY-bacon-recovery.img So to me it does not seem to be a problem specific to one bad server. Especially the aspect, that already downloaded parts are not kept, is extremely annoying in my situation (travelling). |
